We really like WordPress. Many of the webpages we create use WordPress as a content management system (CMS). This allows our customers easy access to the “backend” where they can edit their pages, write their own blog posts, etc. One of the other great features is the HUGE community creating themes and plugins that expand the visual and functional sides of any webpage, blog or web app using WordPress CMS. We use many of these in our line of work, and we have even created our own. Today, we will discuss what happens when businesses grow and the traditional plugins we use or create are no longer able to keep up with webpage traffic and business demands.

Contact forms are quite popular on most of our client webpages, and are most often used to generate new-business leads. When a webpage has more functions than simply capturing customer information, but needs to categorize, classify and DO something with the info, it’s time to bring out the big guns and subscribe to a CRM (Customer relationship management) solution. There are SO many options available, some well-known names are SalesForce, InfusionSoft, SugarCRM, and Zoho CRM. We have experience using most of these solutions, and there are definitely pro’s and con’s to using each.

CRM solutions are a way to capture, sort, and manipulate customer information in helpful ways to grow your company. For example, we are building campaigns right now for a client whose web visitors request more information about their services, and requests free materials. With a normal contact form plugin, an automated email would be sent to their inbox with the requests. With a CRM solution, customer contact information is added automatically to separate contact lists, tags are automatically added for their behaviors, and confirmation emails are automatically sent. For our client, they now have a more organized list of current customers and potential customers. Follow-up communication is now more specific to customer needs and wants. This is just one example of the many functionalities of a CRM solution. Lead generation, targeted marketing efforts, time savings, and organization are just a few reasons why your business should have a CRM.

There are so many applications and ways they can help your small business. Implementation can seem overwhelming, but that is okay! Go ahead and ask us any questions you have. We would love to help. Our most in-depth and recent experiences have been with InfusionSoft, and we highly recommend them!
